Alright, guys, gather ’round. Today, I wanna share my latest project with y’all – remaking a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Yeah, you heard that right, the fancy one with all the bling.
So, first things first, I started by digging up everything I could find about this watch. I scoured the internet, checked out forums, and basically became a temporary expert on the Gondolo 7042/100R-010. You know, the usual stuff: size, materials, movement, and all those details. This bad boy’s a 31mm by 34.8mm rose gold case, packed with diamonds, and has a manual winding movement, caliber 215. Fancy, huh?
Then I began finding the parts. The case was a tough one, I searched the parts and compared lots of different parts. Find a decent rose gold case that was the right size and shape. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I spent days looking for the parts, but it was worth it.
- Finding the movement was another beast. I needed something that looked and worked like the original 215, but without breaking the bank. Finally, I got my hands on one.
- Next up, the diamonds. Oh boy, the diamonds. I grabbed a whole bunch of them, 251 to be exact, just like the original. Plus, another 12 for the hour markers. Sparkly!
Once I had all the pieces, it was time to put ’em together. I carefully assembled the watch. That was the most nerve-wracking part. But, I took my time, made sure everything was perfect, and voila! It worked!
The Result
The finished product looked amazing, if I do say so myself. It’s got that same classy vibe as the original. The diamonds are shining, the rose gold is gleaming, and the movement is ticking away. It’s not 100% perfect, but it’s pretty darn close.
This whole project was a blast. It was challenging, sure, but also super rewarding. I learned a ton about watchmaking, and I ended up with a killer timepiece. So, what do you guys think? Pretty cool, right?
