Today, I wanna talk about my little project of remaking the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711, just like the ones you see in their flagship store. It’s been a real adventure, let me tell you.
Getting Started
First off, I started digging around for info. I mean, who wouldn’t? This watch is a big deal. I found out that finding an authorized retailer or an official showroom is the way to go if you want the real deal. But those are hard to come by. I remember reading somewhere, “Find your Patek Philippe authorized retailer or official showroom near Cardiff with our store.” That’s great and all, but I’m not anywhere near Cardiff, so that wasn’t much help to me personally.
The Challenge
Then, there’s the whole thing about this particular model being discontinued. Yeah, you heard that right. I saw this line, “The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 is discontinued. We at Swisswatches have…” and I was like, “Seriously? Just my luck.” It felt like trying to find a needle in a haystack, a real “unicorn” as some folks put it. But that didn’t stop me. I was more determined than ever to remake one for myself.
Diving Into the Details
I started looking at every picture, every article I could find about the Nautilus 5711. I noticed its unique look, especially the ones with the Tiffany & Co. stamp. There was this one bit I read, “The Patek Philippe Nautilus ‘Tiffany & Co’ Ref. 5711/1A-018 is a bold-looking…” and I totally agree. It’s bold, it’s classy, and I wanted to capture that in my remake.
The Process
So, I began gathering materials. It wasn’t easy, I can tell you that. I tried to find parts that matched the original as closely as possible. It involved a lot of comparing, a lot of trial and error. I spent hours, days even, just trying to get the right shade of blue for the dial. And the bracelet, don’t even get me started on the bracelet. It’s so intricate, but I was determined to get it right.
Putting It All Together
After what felt like forever, I finally had all the pieces. Now came the hard part – putting it all together. I was extra careful with every step. I wanted this remake to be as close to the real thing as possible. I assembled the dial, the hands, the case, and finally, the bracelet. It was nerve-wracking, but seeing it come together was so rewarding.
The Final Product
And there it was, my very own remade Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711. It might not be the original, but it’s pretty darn close. It’s got that same bold look, that same elegance. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of the journey it took to get here. It’s not just a watch; it’s a story of persistence and passion.
So, that’s my story. It was a challenge, sure, but a fun one. And who knows, maybe this will inspire someone else to take on a project they’ve been dreaming about. If I can do it, you can too.
