Okay, so I tried to make a copy of the OMEGA Ω Seamaster Ploprof 1200m, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First off, I started by gathering all the info I could find about this watch. I mean, I scoured the internet for everything – webpages, images, you name it. Anything that could give me a clue about how this thing is put together.
Then, I tried to find similar materials. This was tough. I searched everywhere, from local shops to online stores. I needed something that looked and felt like the real deal, but obviously, I wasn’t going to spend a fortune. I managed to find some decent alternatives, but it wasn’t easy.
The next step was the tricky part – actually putting it together. I followed some guides I found online about watchmaking. I also studied the images of the Ploprof 1200m closely to see how each part fits. I attempted to replicate the design as best as I could with the materials I had. Let’s just say there was a lot of trial and error involved.
- First, I worked on the case. This was a real challenge. I had to shape and polish it to get that unique Ploprof look.
- Then, I moved on to the dial. I tried to copy the markings and the hands, which was super fiddly.
- The bezel was another headache. Getting it to rotate smoothly and align correctly took ages.
- Finally, I assembled everything and added the strap.
After all that work, I finally finished my copy. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it. It looked somewhat like the OMEGA Ω Seamaster Ploprof 1200m, and it actually worked! Well after a fashion, anyway.
I tested the watch out to see how it works and compared it to what I had on the OMEGA Ploprof 1200m, and I have to say it feels pretty good, even though it is just a copy and paste work.
My Thoughts
This whole experience taught me a lot about watchmaking and the craftsmanship that goes into these luxury watches. It’s way harder than it looks! Would I do it again? Maybe, but it’s definitely a lot of work for just one watch. But hey, at least I can say I tried to make a copy of the OMEGA Ω Seamaster Ploprof 1200m!
