Okay, here is a blog post about my experience remaking the PRADA Arqué Leather Shoulder Bag:

Man, I gotta tell you about this project I just finished. I decided I wanted to try my hand at remaking the PRADA Arqué Leather Shoulder Bag, the classic style one. It was a real journey, let me tell you!

First, I spent hours just staring at pictures of this bag online. I checked the PRADA official website to brows and buy online the latest collections of bags and clothes. I needed to get every angle, every detail just right in my head before I even started. Then, I got to work sketching it out. I must have filled half a notebook with drawings, trying to get the proportions and that signature curve just perfect.

Next, the materials. Oh boy, the materials. I wanted to use real leather, of course, so I went to this local shop, and searched a long time. Finally, I found this beautiful, soft piece that I thought would work. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, I figured if I was going to do this, I might as well do it right.

Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking. One wrong move and the whole thing could be ruined. I measured everything at least three times, drew out my pattern pieces on the back of the leather, and then very, very carefully cut them out with a sharp knife.

  • Sewing was a whole other adventure.
  • I don’t have one of those fancy industrial sewing machines, so I used my regular one, which is normally fine, but this leather was thick.
  • I broke a couple of needles, had to adjust the tension about a million times, and even had to sew some parts by hand.

But slowly, bit by bit, it started to come together. Seeing those flat pieces of leather transform into an actual bag was pretty amazing. The hardest part was definitely the curved bottom. Getting that to sit right and look smooth took a lot of patience and a few curse words, I won’t lie.

Finally, after days of work, it was done! I added the lining, the hardware, and that iconic PRADA logo. When I stepped back and looked at the finished bag, I was pretty darn proud of myself. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but it was a pretty good replica of the real deal.

Result

This whole project was a real learning experience. I learned a lot about working with leather, about pattern making, and about my own patience! It was tough, but also really rewarding. Now I’ve got this awesome, unique bag, and I can say I made it myself. Not bad, right?
