Okay, so I’ve been into watches for a while now, and I’ve always had my eye on Omega. I finally decided to pull the trigger on a pretty nice one – the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer GMT 45.5mm. Here’s how it all went down.

First off, I spent weeks looking at different models. I mean, there are so many cool Speedmasters and Seamasters out there, it’s kind of overwhelming! I started by doing research about Speedmaster and then I got sucked into a rabbit hole about the difference between vintage and modern. There are so many pitfalls when you start looking at the older models! Did you know there are limited editions that are like a totally different category? I was initially looking at getting a vintage watch, but I eventually decided to go for a modern one, just to be safe.

I finally narrowed it down to the Seamaster line, but that only made things more complicated. I also spent a good amount of time researching the Master Chronometer. I looked into the whole COSC certification thing and then got some clarification on the METAS certification, which made sense since I knew OMEGA went through them. Apparently they test for accuracy to 0/+5 seconds per day! That’s a relief knowing my watch will be accurate.

Then there was this whole thing about magnetic fields – apparently, the Master Co-Axial movements can handle up to 15,000 gauss, which is insane! I don’t even know what that means, but it sounds good, right?

Anyway, I kept digging around, and this one model kept popping up: the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Master Chronometer GMT. It just looked so good, and it seemed like it could handle anything. After Basel 2016, this model was released and I just knew I had to get one. I even found out that it’s got the Master Chronometer Caliber 8906 movement, with a 60-hour power reserve, and a built-in GMT function. I mean, come on, that’s just awesome.

So, after all that research and back-and-forth, I finally decided to go for it. I found a local shop that had it in stock, and I went in to check it out. The 45.5mm case felt perfect on my wrist. Not too big, not too small. Just right.

I ended up walking out of the store with the watch on my wrist. It felt so good to finally have it. Now, I can proudly say I’m an owner of an OMEGA, and it’s a pretty sweet one if I do say so myself.

This whole experience has been a wild ride, but I’m so glad I did it. I learned a ton about watches, especially OMEGAs, and I ended up with a timepiece that I absolutely love.
