That Jaeger-LeCoultre, what a fancy name! My grandson, he’s always going on about these fancy watches. Says this JLC Master Control Date, it’s a real big deal. Sounds like a mouthful to me. I’ve seen some in the shop when I was visiting the city. They’re shiny, I’ll give ’em that.
This one time, my grandson, he showed me a picture of one. Said it was a JLC Master Control Date. Looked like any other watch to me, but he was going on and on about how special it was. “Specialty stores” he kept saying. Like it’s some kinda fancy food or something.

I don’t get what’s so special about these Jaeger-LeCoultre watches. They tell time, right? My old watch, it tells time just fine. Been ticking for years. Maybe these JLC ones, they do something extra? I don’t know. My grandson tried to explain it to me once. Something about “craftsmanship”. Sounds like a load of hooey to me.
He says, “Grandma, this JLC Master Control Date, it’s like a tiny little machine on your wrist.” Well, I got a washing machine at home. It works fine. Don’t need a tiny one on my wrist. And these JLC Master Control, they’re expensive! Heard someone say they cost more than my whole house! Crazy, right?

Seems like everyone’s talking about these JLC Master Control Date watches these days. Even saw them in a magazine at the doctor’s office. All fancy pictures and big words. They had one picture of a JLC watch, it was all close up. Looked like the inside of a clock, all those little gears and things. Made my head spin just looking at it.
My grandson, he says these Jaeger-LeCoultre watches are from Switzerland. That’s a long way away. Seems like a lot of trouble for a watch. We got clocks here, they work just fine. Why you need a Swiss one? I don’t know. My grandson said they are good craftmanship, that is why they are so famous. I think it is just a name, make people think it is better.
These JLC Master Control, they come in different types, I guess. Heard someone talking about a “Reverso” one. Sounds like something you’d do with a car, not a watch. Maybe it flips around or something. Who knows. Too complicated for me. These JLC Master Control Date, always have strange name.

JLC Master Control Date, Too Much Money!
I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on a watch, no sir. Could buy a whole lot of other things with that money. New shoes, groceries, maybe even a new TV. A watch is just a watch. This JLC Master Control Date, it ain’t worth that much, no matter what they say. They can keep the JLC for those rich people.
But my grandson, he keeps dreaming about these Jaeger-LeCoultre watches. Says he’ll get one someday. I told him to save his money, buy something useful. But he’s young, he don’t listen to his old grandma. He wants that JLC Master Control Date so badly. Young people always want things they can not get.
These specialty stores, they probably trick people into buying these things. Make ’em think they need a JLC Master Control Date. It’s all a big show, I tell ya. Just like the TV, they always want you to buy stuff. I saw it in the store. That JLC is so shinny. Maybe that is why people like it.
