So, I was browsing around, looking for something cool to add to my watch collection, and I stumbled upon this beauty – the OMEGA Speedmaster 310.92.44.50.01.001, also known as the Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon.” Man, this thing is a stunner! I’ve always been a bit of a space nerd, so the whole Apollo 8 connection really grabbed my attention.
First thing I did was check out a bunch of pictures online. This watch is all black ceramic, which just looks super sleek and modern. And it’s not small, 44.25 mm, but I like a watch with a bit of presence on my wrist.
Next, I dug into the details. It’s got this movement called the 3869, which is apparently an updated version of some other movement. It’s got that classic, symmetrical design with the straight lugs that I love.
After getting all the technical specs down, I started hunting for the best price. Found a few different places selling it, and finally pulled the trigger on one.
When it arrived, I was not disappointed. This watch is even better in person. The ceramic feels amazing, and that moon surface detail on the dial and back is just insane. Plus the strap felt so comfortable.
