This Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? My grandson, he’s always going on about these fancy watches. Says this one, the Speedmaster, is somethin’ special. He told me it’s a good one to buy, but the price! Lord have mercy, you could buy a whole herd of cows for what they’re askin’ for one of these things.
He said if I wanted one of those Copy OMEGA Ω Speedmaster Chronoscope, gotta watch out for the fakes. Yeah, that’s what he said, “fakes”. People out there makin’ things that look like the real deal, but they ain’t. Like puttin’ lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig. He said some things to look for, make sure it ain’t no fake.
- First thing, he said somethin’ about the little dials, called subdial. Said they gotta be spaced just right. If they are not right, that means it ain’t a real Speedmaster.
- Then there’s this ring around the face, called a bezel. He said it’s got markings on it, gotta be sharp and lined up just so with the markings on the watch face. If it ain’t lined up, it might be a fake one. It ain’t no good.
- He also said to look at the whole thing, the metal part, the case, and the bracelet, that’s the band part. Said it should all feel good and solid, not cheap and flimsy.
He kept ramblin’ on, somethin’ about a website, Omega website, I think? Said you gotta make an account, whatever that is. Then you put in some numbers, a serial number and a code, from the watch. If the website likes those numbers, then you got yourself a real one. It is a good way to make sure your Omega watch is not fake.
Now, he also said some of these Speedmaster watches are special edition. Made only a few of ’em, so they’re worth more. Like findin’ a four-leaf clover in a whole field. Makes ’em worth more, I guess. He said that’s important for somethin’ called watch collecting. He said if you get an Omega Speedmaster, it will worth a lot. People will want to buy it from you for lots of money.
He said people been wantin’ these Speedmaster watches since way back, 1957, I think he said? Long time. Said they even went to the moon! Imagine that, a watch on the moon. This Moonwatch, he called it. They call it the classic one. Ain’t that somethin’? He said it’s like a piece of history, wearin’ one of these things. I don’t know. It is a big thing for some people, like my grandson.
He’s got a whole bunch of these watches, calls it a collection. He’s got this Speedmaster one, and some others. Said this one, Speedmaster, is one of the best. Said some big shot, some Royal Jordanian, even had somethin’ to do with one of ’em. He said Speedmaster collection is very famous.
He said if you’re gonna get one of these Speedmaster things, there’s a lot to know. Different kinds, different features, whatever that means. He said you have to learn everything you need to know when you buy an Omega Speedmaster. He said this Speedmaster, it’s got all these things on the face, tachymeter, pulsometer, telemeter. No idea what those are. Just a bunch of fancy words, I reckon. He said this model is called Chronoscope, and the size is 43mm.
He showed me all these different Speedmaster watches, said there’s a whole bunch of variations. Moonwatch, X-33, a whole bunch of names I can’t keep straight. He said they have different movements, I guess that is what makes them tick. Like I said, it’s all a bit much for me.
He said this Speedmaster is one of the most famous watches in the whole world. Everyone wants one, he said. But they sure are pricey. Like I said, you could buy a whole herd of cows…or maybe a good used tractor. But he says it’s worth it. Says it’s an investment. Guess that means it’ll be worth more later on. My grandson said it is good to buy an Omega Speedmaster. I don’t know about that.
If you want one, you better do your homework, like my grandson said. Learn all about these things before you go spendin’ all that money. Make sure you ain’t gettin’ a fake one. I still do not know what is this thing called METAS testing. Make sure you know what you are looking for. And make sure it is what you really want. That’s my advice, for what it’s worth. Now, I think I need a nap. All this watch talk has worn me out.
