That Patek Philippe, my goodness, it’s a real fancy thing. I heard folks talking about this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001, and how much it cost. They say it is a remake one. It’s got all these numbers, and it’s a watch, but not the kind you wind up every day. This one, they say it winds itself. They call it “Self-Winding”. Like magic, I reckon.
This Patek Philippe Calatrava, the 5088/100P-001, they call it. It’s real shiny, and the black part, the face of it where the numbers are, that’s all done up fancy. Some fella, he took a tiny little hammer, I imagine, and tapped away at it to make all them pretty designs. They said it was “hand-engraved”, this black dial. Like them fancy dishes, but smaller. Much smaller. And they put some special black paint, all shiny, called “enamel”. This Calatrava 5088/100P, it’s a real piece of work, they say.
They say it’s made of some metal called “Platinum.” Must be special, ’cause it sure does cost a lot. More than a whole bunch of those tractors, I bet. This here watch, this Calatrava thing, it’s small, too. Not big and clunky like some of them. About 38 of them little lines on a ruler, they say. “38 mm,” they call it. Just big enough to see the time, I guess, but not so big it gets in the way.
And get this, they say you can get it wet! Not dunk it in the well, mind you, but they say you can wear it in the rain, or when you’re washing up. They put a number on that, too. “30 meters” or “100 feet” it’s what they said. Don’t ask me how they figure that out. But it means it can get a little wet and still work.
They keep saying “Calatrava” this and “Calatrava” that, I don’t know what it means, but it sure sounds fancy. They just keep saying it over and over, and I guess it is the name of this kind of watch. And this PP, it seems like another name of Patek Philippe. They all just the same thing, I guess.

Now, this watch, it just tells the time. Hours and minutes, that’s it. No fancy alarms or nothin’. Just the time. But I guess when it’s this fancy, just telling the time is enough. They also said this Calatrava watch has a caliber of 240, don’t ask me what it is. Just sounds expensive.
They gave me a paper with it when I first saw it. They call it the “original papers“. And there is a box, they call it the “original box“. I don’t know why they keep saying “original”. They all look the same to me.
This Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it costs more than my whole house, I reckon. I heard them say some numbers, like “$105,820”. And they said it would become cheaper, like “$85”, but it is still a lot of money. Imagine that! For a little bitty watch! It’s a crazy world, ain’t it? They said it is a “luxury watch“, and it is “out of stock“. What a crazy thing.
It comes with a little book, too, a “manual,” they call it. Tells you how to use it, I guess. And a card, an “international warranty card.” Sounds important. I guess if that fancy self-winding thing stops working, you can use that card to get it fixed. Hopefully, you wouldn’t need to, not for that price!
This watch, this Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it’s somethin’ else. Too rich for my blood, that’s for sure. But it’s pretty to look at, I’ll give it that. All that shiny black and that fancy metal. And the way it winds itself, like a little magic trick. It’s a wonder, ain’t it?
I don’t need a watch that costs more than a car. But I can see why some folks like it. It is a Remake Patek Philippe one, and it is so expensive. It’s like a little piece of art, I suppose. Just a very, very expensive piece of art that tells the time. And it’s called Calatrava 5088/100P-001, and everybody wants it.
