This here OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope, it’s a real fancy thing. They call it “classic style,” I reckon. Like them old-timey watches, but new, ya know? My grandson, he’s always on about these fancy watches, says they’re good for SEO, whatever that is. Just looks like a regular watch to me, but shinier.
They got these things called “sub-collections.” Sounds made up, don’t it? But this Speedmaster, it’s got a bunch of ’em. One is the “Moonwatch.” Now, that one I kinda get. They say it went to the moon. Imagine that! A watch on the moon. Must be a strong little feller to handle that trip. They say its the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. No idea what professional means.
This new one, the 2021 Omega Chronoscope, they say it’s “modern vintage.” What in tarnation does that even mean? It’s like sayin’ somethin’ is old and new at the same time. Makes my head spin. They say it has 3 chronograph scales. To me, it just looks like it has many little circles on it.
This watch, it’s thinner than some of the others, they say. And it’s got this “box-style sapphire crystal.” I don’t know what sapphire is, but it sounds expensive. And “crystal” just makes me think of them fancy glasses my neighbor used to have. This is a “vintage-style chronograph dial”, and “manually wound movement”. It just means it is an old looking watch, and you need to wind it yourself.
- This one’s 43 mm. Don’t ask me what that means. Just know it ain’t too big, ain’t too small.
- They call it the Speedmaster Chronoscope collection. Fancy name for a bunch of watches, I guess.
- “Heritage” is important, they keep sayin’. Like it’s got a family history or somethin’.
They say they made a selection for this classic Omega Speedmaster. And they started with the Speedmaster CK2915 from 1957. I don’t know what happened in 1988, but they say that year is important, too. Maybe someone famous wore one of these watches that year. Who knows?
They got two counters on this here watch. And they call this one the Chronoscope Paris 2024. Each watch has a “silvery white opaline dial.” Don’t know what opaline is, but it sounds fancy. And it’s got “three dark grey timing scales in a 1940’s snail design.” Snails? On a watch? What will they think of next?
These scales, they got names too:
- Tachymeter scale
- Pulsometer scale
- Telemeter scale
Sounds like doctor stuff to me. They say it measures a bunch of things. I guess that’s useful if you need to measure things a lot. It just looks like some lines on the watch to me.
This watch, it has a number on it. The number is 020Z017488. The one that is more shiny, it has the number 020Z017493. Both of these Omega Speedmaster bracelets are the same price. It is €760. That is a lot of money, I tell you.
Some of these Moonwatch models, they got a “Dot Over 90” bezel. Sounds like a secret code or somethin’. It’s just a little dot near the number 90, they say. But folks seem to like it.
Well, there ya have it. That’s all I know about this OMEGA Speedmaster Chronoscope. It’s a fancy watch, that’s for sure. Lots of little circles and numbers. Probably costs more than my whole house. But hey, if you like that kinda thing, and you got the money, I reckon it’s a good watch. Just don’t ask me to explain all them fancy words. I just know it tells time, and that’s good enough for me.
